Sleep. Enough.

Washington Post: “Lack of sleep disrupts every physiologic function in the body,” said Eve Van Cauter of the University of Chicago. “We have nothing in our biology that allows us to adapt to this behavior.”

One of the most respected scientists in this field is William C. Dement. If you want to read a very good book on sleep research, read his “The Promise of Sleep”. Did you know that the Exxon Valdez accident was a result of too little sleep? Most news reports said that alcohol was the cause of the accident, but according to William C. Dement, the person controlling the ship had slept only 6 of the last 48 hours and were “severely sleep deprived”.

33% of all US traffic accidents are traceable to sleepiness. The numbers are the same everywhere. In Norway, 30% of all death accidents are connected to sleep problems.

Try this: Go to sleep one hour earlier monday to friday next week. Then at the normal time the following week. Then one hour earlier again the third week. Do you feel any difference? My guesses: Better thinking, reaction and creativity the first and third week.
