Redesigned – again

I got tired of the old look, and installed the Fauna WordPress theme. I also have created a logo, and a new header.

Brilliantdays Logo

The logo is supposed to combine two things:

A stylized sun – something you need on a brilliant day (and here’s why the site is called brilliantdays.com), and a stylized Ø – the first letter in my name. It’s a special character only used in Norway and Denmark. So I ususally just write my name with an O instead: Oyvind.

Why a green sun? I just like the colors.

What do you think?

I have lots of tweaking and messing about with PHP, CSS and HTML before I’m happy. But I think it’s a good start. It felt good to get rid of the heavy green line at the top. I may reintroduce some more color up there, but for now I’ll stay with lots of white. It’s summer!

    i second eirik, the logo is indeed nice!
    but your custom font for the name of your site,
    eventho i like that font, kinda draggs my attention away
    from the logo itself. or maybe its just its position. dunno.
    i dont know what it is, maybe the missing golden cut.

    a lot of whitespace, one of the things that the old BD was missing,
    but now i kinda dont know where i am with my cursor.

    the “home about archives” top menu looks a bit lost up there
    and the sidebar menu is a bit irritating, cant see a real structure there.
    i would remove the posters names below the “ongoing discussions” titles.

    the category tagcloud: a lot of categories,
    but where are the cats that stand out/are popular?
    if there are no “big” ones really, why a tagcloud in the first place?

    sorry matey for this “you are overreacting, manuel!” critical comment–
    hope you take it for what it is, just a “grumpy afternoon” critic,
    nothing personal :)

    I agree about the font. It will be changed. I liked it when playing around with it, but I will find a cleaner, more “boring” one…

    I also plan to make more visual clues, headers etc. So the home and Archives stand out a bit more.

    And the tagcloud: Sure. I have to tweak it more.
