About
I’m Oyvind Solstad (or Øyvind, but most alphabets don’t have an Ø on their keyboard).
This is my website for all things Mac and iPhone. I have used Macs since the Macintosh SE, and I’m currently on my 13th Mac, my 6th and 7th iPod and second iPhone. I have administered Macs for office use, for sound processing and use in radio, and a large SAN for Final Cut Pro. I have attended WWDC twice, in 2007 and 2009 but not published any apps yet.
My personal website is at oyvindsolstad.com – and my daily work is as a technology advisor at NRK – Norwegian Broadcasting in Oslo where I’m also the daily editor of NRK’s technology website NRKbeta.no. You will find all my contact data at oyvindsolstad.com but there’s also a contact form here at brilliantdays.com.
My Twitter-nick is @oyvind (and also @osol if you speak Norwegian).
I live by the river and the forest in Oslo, Norway – with my lovely girlfriend Nina.
This site used to be my personal website until 2007, so there are quite a few articles from 2005-2007. I kept these but will mark them with a “warning” of some kind in the future. From 2009, I will only write about Mac and iPhone here on brilliantdays.com.
Why the name brilliantdays?
This is (a small part of) the lyrics of a song I can listen to a million times:
Brilliant days, wake up on brilliant days
Shadows of brilliant ways will change all the time
Memories, burning gold memories
Gold of day memories change me in these timesSomewhere there is some place, that one million eyes can’t see
And somewhere there is someone, who can see what I can seeSomeone, somewhere in summertime
It’s “Someone somewhere in summertime” by Simple Minds, from the amazing album “New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84)” (Buy from Amazon.com).
Some days are better than others. Some are even better than the good ones. And sometimes life is just brilliant.
