Address book has “global” fields

In my post on monday, I asked for a way to add custom URL categories in Apple’s Address book application. Tim Buchheim points out that the solution is right there in preferences.

Addressbook preferences - template

If URL isn’t present, choose “Add field” and add URL.

Then add a custom URL with the popup.

Name your new custom URL.

Next time you add a new person, the new custom URL field will be present:
